Wedding Information
Welcome to our wedding planning!
Our wedding service, reception and accommodation will be held on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour. We found this location by accident but it has proved to be just what we were after. In Sarah’s first year at the National Art School she attended the island as a part of her drawing studies. Ever since we have been drawn back to its beauty and history. Last year during the Outpost Art Festival we were taking refuge from the heat on the tennis court overlooking the Harbour when the idea struck us, we were sitting on the perfect wedding venue!
We would encourage everyone to take a few days on the island so you can relax and take in its extensive history, from a convict goal, a naval shipyard to a modern day art, music and social venue. Our service and reception will be on the Saturday afternoon/evening and we are planning a BBQ brunch on Sunday.
The best way to get to the island is on a public ferry. They regularly travel from Circular Quay to Cockatoo Island. More information on public transport is available here.
Accommodation options on the island include hiring a luxury apartment, ‘glamping’ and regular camping, you can use one of the tents already on the island or bring your own. Glamping is sleeping in a tent that has a bed and linen in it. We will be staying on the island from Friday until Monday, however feel free to stay for as long or as short a time as you would like. All the information including links to booking is on this website. Please book early so you don’t miss out. When you book, mention you are part of the Schneider Wedding. You are more than welcome to stay off the island, the last ferry to Circular Quay is around 11pm, however there are water taxis until late. We wouldn’t recommend swimming outside the designated areas (sharks!).
